Barbara Youree To Speak on Historical Fiction at Fayetteville Library

Barbara Youree, author of award-winning narrative nonfiction and ten historical romances, will speak on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Fayetteville Library Literary Festival. She will discuss the techniques for writing historical fiction and narrative nonfiction that bring stories to life.

Her two latest novels Race to Glory and Heart at War, are inspired by her trips to Greece. Race to Glory tells the story of a young man whose goal is to win the racing crown at the Olympics in the first century. Heart at War is set in the mid-nineteenth century during the Greek Revolution.

Endorsed by former President Jimmy Carter, her narrative nonfiction book Courageous Journey: Walking the Lost Boys’ Path from the Sudan to America, was a finalist in the the National Best Books Awards for 2008.

Maeve Maddox writes about popular culture, English usage, and education. Her most recent books are WORD RAGE, a guide to peaceful coexistence as American English-speakers, and THE FABERGE FLUTE, a cozy mystery set in 1980s London.
