Crawdads Author At Fayetteville Library July 20, 2019
Delia Owens, author of the best-selling novel Where the Crawdads Sing, will visit the Fayetteville Public Library for an interview with KUAF’s Kyle Kellams on July 20, 2019 at 2:30 pm. A book signing will follow the interview.
Where the Crawdads Sing is a mystery, a love story and a courtroom drama, but it is primarily a sociobiological drama about self-reliance, survival and how isolation affects human behavior. The New York Times Book Review calls the book
“painfully beautiful…Owens surveys the desolate marshlands of the NC coast through the eyes of an abandoned child. And in her isolation that child makes us open our own eyes to the secret wonders—and dangers—of her private world.”
Delia Owens is the co-author of three internationally best-selling nonfiction books about her life as a wildlife scientist in Africa—Cry of the Kalahari, The Eye of the Elephant, and Secrets of the Savanna. She currently lives in Idaho, where she continues her support for the people and wildlife of Zambia. Where the Crawdads Sing is her first novel, inspired by her research on female bonding in the animal kingdom and her own lifelong friendships.
Where the Crawdads Sing is the selection for the 2019 statewide reading program, “If All Arkansas Read the Same Book.” Arkansans are encouraged to read and discuss the book in book clubs and libraries. “If All Arkansas Read the Same Book” is presented by the Arkansas Center for the Book at the Arkansas State Library and all programs are offered free-of-charge to the public. The project is funded in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
