Deadlines for Indie Awards, Nimrod, and Austin Film, 2021
Here is a line-up of contests and award competitions with deadlines in February, April, and May.
Next Generation Indie Book Awards—Deadline: February 12, 2021
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards program is still accepting entries written in English and released in 2019, 2020,or 2021. The awards are presented by the Independent Book Publishing Professional Group. All finalists and winners will be notified by late May, 2021.
Nimrod Literary Awards—Deadline: April 1, 2021
The 2021 Nimrod Literary Awards, The Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction and The Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry, are now open, with a deadline of April 1. The Awards offer first prizes of $2,000 and publication and second prizes of $1,000 and publication, and winners will also take part in a Virtual Awards Ceremony and Reading with our final judges in October 2021. This year’s final judges are Rilla Askew (fiction) and Geffrey Davis (poetry).
To enter the contest, submitters must be living in the US by October of 2021. All finalists and selected semi-finalists will be published. Entry/Subscription Fee: Each entry must be accompanied by a $20 fee. Make checks payable to Nimrod. The entry fee includes a one-year subscription to Nimrod (two issues, print or digital).

Austin Film Festival’s Script competition—Three Deadlines (!)
The Austin Film Festival’s Script Competition is open for entries.
The three deadlines are:
Early Deadline: March 26, 2021
Regular Deadline: April 16, 2021
Late Deadline: May 21, 2021
Eligible materials include feature screenplays, teleplay pilots and specs, short screenplays, digital series scripts, state plays, and fiction podcast scripts. Further information is available on the Austin Film Festival website. Submit online.
