Dusty Richards 1937—2018

The Arkansas writing community lost a legend on January 18, 2018.

Dusty Richards, author of numerous books about the West, died a week after Pat Richards, his wife of 57 years. They died of injuries received in a catastrophic car accident in December.

Richards came late to fiction writing, publishing his first novel, Noble’s Way, in 1992, at the age of 55. His novel, The Mustanger and the Lady, has recently been made into a movie, renamed Painted Woman.

One of the finest aspects of Richards’ character was that he was always willing to mentor beginning authors. He and Pat Richards will be greatly missed.
