Fayetteville Public Library, KUAF Radio, and TheatreSquared Present the Author Series in Fayetteville June 11
Join the Fayetteville Public Library for a live taping of Ozarks-at-Large on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:00pm with host Kyle Kellams. Kellams interviews nationally acclaimed playwright Karen Zacarias about her newest work, Just Like Us, slated for its first public performance at TheatreSquared’s 2014 Arkansas New Play Festival.
Based on Helen Thorpe’s bestselling book, this new play follows four Latina girls whose immigration status begins to erode their opportunities. The audience will get to see a sneak preview selection from the play and Kyle will lead a conversation with Karen Zacarias, TheatreSquared’s Artistic Director Bob Ford, and Tlaloc Rivas, director of Just Like Us, about the play and the craft of playwriting. Highlights from the show will be broadcast at a later date on KUAF. This program is made possible through FPL’s author series and its’ partnership with TheatreSquared.

She is the multi-award winning author of Mariela in the Desert, The Sins of Sor Juana, Legacy of Light, and adaptation of How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accents, the Book Club Play and others.
