The Fayetteville Public Library will host the FPL Author Series with An Evening with Dr. Maya Angelou on Friday, April 11th. The library will begin taking reservations for free tickets online beginning Monday, March 3 at 9:00am via their website. Assistance will be provided over the phone or in the library to those who do not have internet access.
“Our goal is to create a special and memorable evening in our community,” shared David Johnson, Executive Director FPL. To help make that happen, the library made the decision to offer tickets for seating at the library. “The library is proud to be providing free access for the community to such an extraordinary literary event and being able to hold the event at the library.”
The library will dedicate 1300 seats for attendees at the library with some of those seats in rooms with simulcast video.
Because the library has limited seating and to meet the interest from the community in attending Dr. Angelou’s talk, the library has partnered with the University of Arkansas to also simulcast the event at the Hillside Auditorium on the UA campus. This additional venue will offer 740 seats for the community.
Tickets will be available beginning Monday, March 3 for reservation or on the library website at www.faylib.org. Call (479) 856-7000 for assistance.
Reserved tickets will need to be picked up at the library beginning Saturday, March 8-22. After March 22nd unclaimed tickets will be made available to the public on a first come first serve basis at the library.
Tickets will be required for all seating. Up to two tickets per person will be issued.
Attendees must show their tickets at the door for entry.
Doors will open at 6:00pm on Friday, April 11th.
The library is dedicated to providing free literary events to our community and we are looking forward to the special evening. Please visit www.faylib.org/MayaAngelou for additional information and to reserve tickets on Monday, March 3rd.
