Getting Away with an Open Mouth Residency

Need a place to write? Need an interdependent  link to the writing community? Need a creative boost?  The Open Mouth Residency is your answer. A residency that aims to provide support and space for creative writers without prior institutional support.

Open Mouth is a non-profit organization that was started in October of 2015 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Located in a donated space on Mt. Sequoyah, the Open Mouth Residency will run for an initial duration of 6 months, giving each chosen writer a month to use the studio space on Mt. Sequoyah.  Running January through June, each poet will have access to the studio space during their designated month for a period of socially-distanced, uninterrupted creative work time—a win-win for the individual and the writing community.

Outside of university structures and other creative institutions, many writers operate completely independently. This residency aims to provide those writers with the space, support, and time to focus on their craft and to make connections with the writing community of Northwest Arkansas.  Applications for interested writers can be found online.

Local writers are welcome to submit promotional news releases about themselves, their critique groups, and any other writing-related activities of interest to writers in Arkansas and the neighboring states. Submission Guidelines: https://arkansaswriters.com/contact/submit-news
