submitted by Karen Jordan

The Village Writers’ Club kick off a new fall season on Monday, September 26, at the Home Plate Cafe, 5110 N Highway 7, Hot Springs Village.

Members will enjoy an informal read-around at 11:15 a.m., sharing their prize-winners or works-in-progress. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by a panel discussion: “Publishing: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.”

The club’s newly published authors (Linda Black, Dr. Larry Enders, Elizabeth Carroll Foster, and Janet Holt) will discuss and address questions concerning their recent publishing experiences.

Linda Black, a native Arkansan and published author of children’s books, is a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who has realized her greatest passions and most prominent dreams of becoming a writer. Her publications include The Adventures of Boots: The Giant Snowball, and A Porpoise For Cara (future release). http://www.lindawriteright.blogspot.com or www.linda-black.com.

Elizabeth Carroll Foster, a journalist and newspaper editor before turning to fiction, has written a novel, Southern Winds A’ changing, and a memoir, Follow Me: The Life and Adventures of a Military Family. Her third book, Musings, Mutterings and Aw Shucks: Collection of Short Stories, Essays and Features, will be published this fall.

Lawrence (Larry) J. Enders, M.D. is a physician specialist in preventive and aerospace medicine. His recently published book, Surviving Serendipity, relates and documents the multitude of serendipitous events in his life, including interactions with the first three groups of astronauts, movie stars, KGB agents, a Nazi scientist wanted by the authorities, a multiple murderer, and the Kennedy family (for a start), resulting in him being called the “Forrest Gump” of the Village.

Janet Holt is a gerontologist, licensed professional counselor, personal historian, speaker, and the author of Investing Starting From Scratch. For more information, go to www.janetholt.com.

Maeve Maddox writes about popular culture, English usage, and education. Her most recent books are WORD RAGE, a guide to peaceful coexistence as American English-speakers, and THE FABERGE FLUTE, a cozy mystery set in 1980s London.
