New Magazine for the Drama and Beauty of Rural Life
Phil Slattery is establishing a new online magazine called Rural Fiction Magazine. Submissions of short (less than 5,000 words) fiction and poetry are now being accepted. The goal of RFM is to explore the drama and beauty of rural life.
Rural Fiction Magazine seeks primarily mainstream/literary stories and poetry set in the rural US. Although it may take occasional forays into other genres (such as horror, fantasy, science fiction, etc.), all works RFM publishes will be related in some fashion to rural life, primarily in the US but also abroad. RFM hopes to eventually build a worldwide audience.
For now, RFM will be a monthly, online-only magazine publishing on the first of each month. The first issue is slated to appear on October 1. The deadline for submissions is one week before the publication date. For the October issue, this will be September 24. Anything received after that will be considered for the next issue.
Submission guidelines are on the website.
