Opportunities for Screenwriters—2022 Austen Film Festival
With writers as the focus, the Austin Film Festival began in 1993 and is still going strong. This year’s dates are October 27—November 3, 2022.

One of the many features of the festival is a screenwriting competition. The first deadline for the 2022 Script Competition passed on June 1, but writers can still get their scripts under the wire:
Late Deadline: June 24
Extended Deadline: July 8.
Screenwriters who are not submitting this year can contribute as volunteer readers. Here, according to the AFF, are the qualifications of “ideal candidates”:
Ideal candidates should be voracious readers who are well versed in the basics of screenwriting and have a keen sense for analyzing a story. The team of volunteer readers will help evaluate the submitted material and have a hand in deciding which scripts move forward in the competition.
Volunteer readers will accumulate points per script that will go toward free film passes and badges for the 2022 Festival.
