WGA at OWFI 2013

The Writers Guild of Arkansas (WGA) was well represented at OWFI 2013.

Despite the rain, members traveling to Norman, Oklahoma on May 2 enjoyed the scenery, stopping to take a closer look at the Indian Paintbrush along the highway. The member gathering flowers shall remain nameless.

The view from the second floor balcony of the Embassy Suites was inviting. The view from the window of Room 229–not so much.

No one spent much time in the rooms anyway. Earnest conversation between participants like Barbara Youree and Brenda Black was the rule.

Here five friends stand toe-to-toe. Care to guess age by means of footwear?

The WGA had its own table for the Famous Authors’ Banquet. The menu on Friday night was excellent. Can’t say as much for Saturday. Except for the desserts.

WGA members and alumna: Maeve Maddox, Rhonda Franz, Mary Ann Powers, Raymona Anderson, Lela Davidson, Nancy Hartney, Marilyn Collins, and Barbara Youree. Nancy’s husband Bob is now an honorary member, thanks to his wonderful support and volunteer duty at the WGA book table. Many thanks to him.

Rhonda Franz’s “More Meal, Less Mess, took first honorable mention in Category 24, Technical/How-To. Nancy Hartney’s “The Roses are Beautiful This Year” won second place in Category 20, SF/Fantasy/Horror. Brenda Black’s “Red Shoes” took first prize for Category 29, Nostalgia.
